Meet Gatao – the Black and White Cat. I’ll bet he has one or two stories to tell.
Chacma baboons, foraging for and squabbling over spilled maize along the side of the road.
Full moon rising over the Zambezi River.
Neoscona sp. or Hairy Field Spider. These harmless (unless you are a mosquito!) spiders construct a new web every night, gathering it up again at sunrise before retiring for the day to sleep.
On a recent visit to the Peak District Lead Mining Museum I noticed these two boys hanging over the railings, trying to catch the attention of the fish in the pond outside the museum.
A pet shop in the Northern Quarter in Manchester.
Banded jewel fish – Hemichromis elongatus – probably not for sale at Hilton Aqua Emporium. I caught these fish in the Zambezi River, above the Victoria Falls, and kept them in my tank at home. I love the subtle, piggy-pink belly.
A fishing trip to the Lower Zambezi, near Mana Pools – one of my favourite places on Earth.
The first catch of the day.
A Tigerfish – Hydrocynus vittatus – definitely a catch worth smiling about!
A more traditional method of fishing.
Tradition meets modern.
